Abstract

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate influencing factors in self-efficacy among nursing students.
Methods : The subjects of this study were 195 nursing students in B city. Self-report questionnaires were used to measure the variables. In data analysis, PASW Statistics 18.0 program was utilized for frequency, percentage, means, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe¢¥ test, Pearson correlation coefficient and Regression analysis.

Results : The mean score for self-efficacy was 3.74(SD=.565). Self-Efficacy was significantly different according to satisfaction to the major(F=21.119, p<.001), satisfaction to the recognition(F=18.588, p<.001), adaptation to the college life(F=14.995, p<.001), perceived health status(F=5.948, p<.01) and one of families(t=-2.600, p<.05). The most important variables affected self-efficacy could explain a total 35.2%, were accounted for 20.1% in the satisfaction to the major and 8.3% in the adaptation to the college life by the stepwise multiple regression analysis.

Conclusions : As a result, self-efficacy was correlated with satisfaction to the major in nursing students. Therefore we need to develop various self-efficacy program for nursing students.
